Do you have health goals such as to lose weight, reduce risks of illness or just optimize your well-being?
When you look for health advice recommendation, do you find:
- Conflicting advice
- No basis in science, more in rhetoric
- Based on flawed science
- Tried expert advice that doesn’t work
Do you want to become healthy with advice backed by evidence so you can come to an informed decision?
I’m glad you’re here.
My mission is to make your journey to achieve your health goal much easier, more effective and less time consuming.
Hi, my name is Leo.
Honestly, I am just like you.
For years I have been frustrated with the plethora of health advice that didn’t work.
Here is a non-exhaustive list of straightforward but plain wrong concepts I subscribed to:
- Minimize dietary fat. Fat makes you fat and clogs your arteries!
- Eat more carbohydrates, it’s the base of the food pyramid
- Eat at frequent intervals to increase metabolism
- A calorie is a calorie
- Law of thermodynamics: eat less, exercise more, right?
In fact, when I think back, the times when I gained weight was when I tried to diet.
Being a husband and father of 2, I am not only responsible for my health but also that of my family.
So I ditched the previous beliefs and went for the evidence behind the claims.
After much research I was shocked to find that much of health tips recommended to us were not even backed by relevant evidence.
Take a look at this graph:
Correlation cannot be used as causation but clearly the dietary guidelines introduced in 1980 have not stopped obesity from rising.
In fact, the rate looks like it accelerated from there.
If you to read through piles of research papers and studies on different health recommendations, you will reach a similar conclusion as I have.
It will however take you a substantial amount of time.
The good news is you don’t need to be a doctor or a nutritionist to know what is best for you.
This is why I created Authority Diet.
In my articles, I link to evidence so you know the facts aren’t plucked from thin air or hearsay from some 'expert'.
By seeing the evidence behind the advice, you can make an informed decision on how you should proceed, whether to lose fat, lower risk of heart disease or to get other parts of your health handled.
